Questions
Answers to what people ask us
Patients and referring offices ask different things, so these are grouped.
Do you take my insurance?
It depends on your plan. We bill many dental and medical plans and tell you before the visit. The How fees work page has the list of plan types.
What if I don't have insurance?
You get a written estimate before any treatment, and an itemized receipt after each visit. Financing is offered by third-party lenders, and approval and terms are set by the lender.
Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?
Call the referral desk and we will answer plainly for your plan.
Will it hurt?
We numb the area first, and you can ask for a break at any time. Some soreness afterward is common, and we tell you what to expect.
How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?
Your periodontist decides, and tells you why. It depends on the condition of your gums.
What is a deep cleaning?
Scaling and root planing: cleaning below the gumline, usually one side of the mouth at a time.
Do you see children?
Our work is for adults. If a child needs gum care, we can talk with the child's dentist.
What counts as an emergency?
Swelling that spreads to the face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop needs an emergency room or 911. For a loose or broken tooth, call the office.
Do you offer other ways to be comfortable?
Ask us before the visit. We explain what is available, who provides it and what you need to do beforehand.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask when you book, or at the visit.
Do you speak Spanish?
Dr. Figueroa speaks Spanish with patients. Ask the referral desk which office she is in.
How do I change or cancel a visit?
Call the referral desk at (413) 555-0100. Please tell us as early as you can so another patient can take the time.
Still have a question?
The referral desk can answer it, or take a message.
